Frequently asked questions
Apartment and community features
What sizes of apartments do you offer?
We offer a wide range of options, from well-appointed studios to spacious two-bedroom apartments with dens.
What is the wait time for an apartment?
Wait times vary by apartment size and availability. One-bedroom apartments tend to be available sooner than larger layouts.
Do apartments have balconies?
Some of our apartment homes include balconies, offering a private space to enjoy the fresh air and campus views. Availability depends on the selected floor plan.
Are pets allowed?
Yes! We’re proud to be a pet-friendly community. Residents are welcome to bring their furry companions according to our pet policy.
Do apartments include washer/dryers and central heating?
For year-round comfort, central air and heat is available in all homes. In-unit washers and dryers are optional features in the one and two-bedroom apartments. To optimize the living space of our studios, washer and dryers are not included.
Is public transportation nearby?
Yes. Our location at the border of Arlington, Falls Church and Alexandria provides convenient access to local bus routes, making it easy to explore the region.
Can heating and air conditioning be controlled in individual apartments?
Yes. Each apartment includes a personal thermostat so residents can adjust the temperature to their comfort.
What services are provided on site?
Residents have access to dining venues, fitness and wellness programs, housekeeping, transportation, salon services, spiritual programs, health care, medication management and more.
Living and care options
What different levels of living do you offer?
Our Life Plan Community offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and long-term or short-term Nursing Care through our Health Care Center.
What is Lifecare?
Lifecare refers to a contract option that guarantees access to care at a predictable monthly rate, even if your health needs change. This plan offers greater financial predictability for both residents and families.
How is it determined when someone needs to move to another level of care?
Transitions are guided by conversations between the resident, their family and a Goodwin Living social worker. We work together to ensure the right level of support is in place.
What’s the difference between a Life Plan Community and a CCRC?
There’s no difference. “Life Plan Community” is the current term for what was traditionally known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Both offer a continuum of care, but the newer term better reflects the vibrant and purpose-driven lifestyle residents experience.
Can someone move directly into Assisted Living from outside the community?
Yes. We welcome residents into assisted living directly from the greater community.
Do you offer Life Care contracts to those entering Assisted Living?
Yes. Those who qualify through a medical assessment may opt for a Life Care contract even if they are entering directly into assisted living.
Do you offer home care services?
Yes. Goodwin Home Care offers personal care, companionship and household assistance for those who need support while remaining in their homes. Call 703-578-7632 to learn more.
Financial services and payment options
What’s included in the monthly fee?

Is there an entrance fee for Assisted Living?
There are two options. Residents can choose a rental agreement that requires only a one-month security deposit with no entrance or community fee. Alternatively, those who qualify may choose a Life Care contract with an entrance fee.
Is there an entrance fee for Memory Care?
