Purpose

At Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads, residents live with energy, empathy and purpose. They volunteer, create and lead with heart—making our campus and the community beyond it, stronger every day.

Purpose through action

At Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads, engagement is how purpose comes to life. Residents contribute their time, creativity and care to enrich campus life and strengthen the community around them.

Volunteering and community spirit

At Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads, residents channel their purpose into action. They volunteer across the campus and beyond—organizing donation drives, mentoring others, teaching and creating programs that enrich community life. Many lend their skills to causes close to their hearts, from sustainability initiatives led by the Green Team to crafting mats for people experiencing homelessness to knitting items for children worldwide and hosting Pride parades every June. Every effort reflects their compassion and commitment to making a difference.

Resident tutors for citizenship

Among the most inspiring efforts is the resident-led tutoring for team members preparing for U.S. Citizenship. Residents offer one-on-one guidance to improve English skills and study for the naturalization exam, helping them gain confidence as they pursue their dreams. These relationships embody the Goodwin Living mission of supporting, honoring and uplifting the lives of older adults and those who care for them.

Creativity, ingenuity and giving back

Residents bring creativity and generosity together through beloved traditions like the What Not Shop, an on-campus thrift store that transforms donated items into meaningful support for the Goodwin Living Foundation. Other resident-driven initiatives celebrate self-expression while raising funds for programs that uplift lives. Together, these endeavors showcase the ingenuity and heart that define the Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads spirit.

The Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads experience, in the words of residents.

  • Goodwin Living Campuses icon

“For a number of years my husband and I contemplated a move to Goodwin Living. Finally, early this year we received a call. Two months later we were offered our heart’s desire, the Rosslyn. We have truly found a home in Goodwin Living. And for me, it’s reassuring to know that I have good medical care available in my own home. Thank you, God, for Goodwin Living.”
